REGISTRATION INFORMATION
All full-time students at Lourdes must take at least six courses each semester.
Each year certain courses are required. Other courses, called electives, may be selected from a variety of choices. A credit is earned for each full year course and a ½ credit is earned for each semester course.
Over the four years of high school a student must earn 24 credits in the following areas:

Although 24 credits earned in the four years is the minimum graduation requirement, most students earn more credits.
A theology credit is required for each year in attendance at Lourdes. Transfer students from schools not offering religion need not make up the missed theology requirements.
Prior math courses, testing and teacher recommendation determine math placement for 9th graders. Students enrolling in music (band or concert choir) may earn no more than 4 music credits toward the 24 credits required for graduation. Approved courses from accredited schools may be substituted for Lourdes courses, but no credits beyond three per semester will be calculated into the grade point average.

COLLEGE ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Because entrance requirements vary from college to college and can even vary on the same campus depending on the subject in which you plan to major, it is important to check the entrance requirements for each college and college major individually. For example, a college could require three years of mathematics of all students but engineering majors might be required to present four or more years of math. A college might require no art or music, but art majors might be required to present an art portfolio; and music majors might be required to audition. Be aware that colleges frequently consider entrance requirements as minimum preparation and may also list classes they recommend students complete in high school.
The following is a general list of high school subjects recommended by most four-year colleges:
English: four years, including composition.
Mathematics: three years, including two years of algebra and one year of geometry. Certain majors, such as engineering, science, and business administration, routinely require additional math.
Foreign language: two or more years of the same language.
Laboratory science: three or more years.
Social Studies: three or more years.
Electives: one year of fine arts (music or art).
Special skills: word processing skills and an understanding of the fundamentals of computer science are highly desirable.
