St. Francis of AssisiOur parish, established in 1937, is a community of Catholic Christians in Rochester, Minnesota. We are a vibrant, diverse family of believers with distinctive programs in faith formation, music, education and ministry. Church of St. Pius XSt. Pius X Catholic Church is a vibrant Catholic community where its members strive to learn and live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Throughout life's journey, we encourage and support each other through worship, prayer, celebration, education, service and evangelization. Holy Spirit ChurchHoly Spirit Parish, a Catholic, Christian community, is a “light on the hilltop” inviting all God’s people to experience the hospitality of our community in Christ. We are sustained in faith through our vibrant liturgies which call us to manifest the presence of Christ to those around us—to be Jesus to one another. We witness this faith not only through liturgy but also through outreach to the poor and vulnerable, life-long faith formation, and total stewardship. Church of the ResurrectionThe Church of the Resurrection Parish was established as an outgrowth of the mother parish of St. Francis in April, 1967. Father Donald Zenk was named as first administrator and pastor. The parish census was 365 families. On Dec. 24, 1968, midnight mass was the first mass offered in the new parish center. On June 12, 1988 there was a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a new church. The first mass was offered on Palm Sunday, March 18, 1989 with processions from the old parish center. The parish census was 950 families. Church of St. John the EvangelistWelcome to The Church of St. John the Evangelist, Rochester’s oldest Catholic Church. We are vibrant and alive with more than 1,200 households calling our parish home. We also serve as home away from home for thousands of visitors of every faith each year. Pax Christi ChurchThe history of Pax Christi is not long, as parishes go, but since 1973, the Pax Christi family has grown both in spirit and in size. We began in June 1973, by decree of Bishop Watters. Father James McCauley was sent to be the pastor developer, and was assigned the daunting task of establishing a new parish, to be called Pax Christi - the Peace of Christ. Diocese of WinonaOn November 26, 1889, Pope Leo XIII issued the apostolic constitution which created the Diocese of Winona and set its geographical boundaries. The diocese encompasses the 20 southernmost counties of Minnesota. |
