St. Francis of Assisi School Music Department

  • Our RCS Music Mission Statement:

Every student at every level should have access to a balances, comprehensive, and sequential program of instruction in music. This music program should be taught in a Catholic Christian environment, by professionally certified music educators, using quality literature and materials.

Goals for all students:

1. Meet performance expectations.
2. Demonstrate proper vocal and instrumental technique
3. Experience music of various styles, cultures, and eras.
4. Exhibit an understanding of the elements of music, music notation, and music             terminology.
5. Create (or recreate), produce, and perform music.
6. Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively within a group.
7. Contribute musically to the Catholic liturgical experience.

General Music:

  • Grades K-6 classes meet every other day for 30 minutes.
  • Grades 7 and 8 classes meet twice a week for 45 minutes.
  • Jr. High Band:
  • Meets every week for full band rehearsal in the band room.
  • Student lessons taught once a week.
  • Elementary band:
  • Student lessons taught once a week.
