Rochester Catholic Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Christopher Smith has been selected to serve as principal of Holy Spirit Catholic School and will be joining the Rochester Catholic School family, beginning July 1, 2017. Mr. Smith will replace current Holy Spirit Catholic School principal, Ms. Lynette Lenoch, who is retiring at the end of the current school year.
Mr. Smith is a licensed administrator and joins us from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Owatonna where he has been serving as the Assistant Principal since 2016 in addition to instructing 7th and 8th grade Religion beginning in 2004. With 23 years of professional education experience, Mr. Smith brings many gifts and talents to Holy Spirit Catholic School and to Rochester Catholic Schools. Through his experience in diverse educational roles he has honed and developed effective communication strategies and methods for successful collaboration with administrators, faculty, staff, students and parents. Mr. Smith brings a wealth of experience in the school accreditation/self-study process, strategic planning, and the development of positive school culture grounded in shared values and root beliefs.
Upon accepting his future position as principal of Holy Spirit Catholic School, Mr. Smith shared that he is “looking forward to learning and praying with the students, families, staff members, and faith community of Holy Spirit Catholic School. Together we will strive to share the love of Christ by developing and using our gifts and talents as we serve others and promote the common good.”

Mr. Smith is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul, MN where he earned his B.A. in History. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Education and a Certificate in Pastoral Studies - both from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona. Additionally, Mr. Smith most recently completed the Alliance for Catholic Education’s (ACE) Remick Leadership Program and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership.
