Ellen Gorman Chosen as Kiwanis Student of the Month for March

Congratulations to LHS student Ellen Gorman who has been chosen by the Downtown Kiwanis as Student of the Month for March 2017! Daughter of Paul and Terry Gorman, Ellen was nominated by Madame Wendt of the World Language Department. Madame Wendt stated, “I am honored to nominate Ellen Gorman for the Kiwanis Student of the Month in World Language...in the classroom, I have witness Ellen collaborate well with others - cooperate with others and be considerate of others - which are all necessary virtues in our world today.”

Ellen has notably been involved in several extracurricular activities including: Tennis Team (Captain, 2016-2017) and as a Varsity Girls Tennis Doubles Player, lettering 8-12th grade. She played tennis at the Minnesota State Tennis Finals (4 years) and has been active member of SADD, Science Club, Mayo Clinic Explorers Program, a Co-Chair for Habitat for Humanity, Channel One Volunteer, Transplant House and a Mayo Clinic Youth Volunteer.

Among the many awards Ellen has received are: Minnesota State Tennis Finals (4 years) and from 2011-2016 she placed 2nd, 4th, 2nd 3rd and 2nd, respectively. She has also been inducted into the National Honors Society her junior year and continues to be involved in the organization.

Ellen plans to attend college and focus on pre-medicine. Currently she is waiting for notifications from preferred universities. Congratulations Ellen, for being nominated as the Downtown Kiwanis Student of the Month for March!
