  • RCS Summer Academy: Discovering Interests, Enriching Minds

RCS is proud to announce a new offering at Summer Academy! Lit Camp is a 4 week, half day experience for students entering grades 3, 4, and 5.

Campers will be immersed in reading and writing all in a fun camp-like setting! The Lit Camp model is based on literacy skills, social-emotional development and engagement. The curriculum is based around 7 strengths: belonging, friendship, kindness, curiosity, courage, and hope. Great stories will be shared, comprehension skills practiced, independent reading time given, and time for writing and reflection. Of course, no camping experience would be complete without games, songs and snacks! This fun summer experience is limited to 15 “campers”!

This camp runs July 10 - August 4, Monday through Friday, from 9:00-11:30a.m. at Lourdes High School.

  • 3rd Annual History Night at St. John the Evangelist

On Thursday, February 23rd the 6th and 8th-grade students of St. John the Evangelist/St. Pius X, St. John’s campus came together to present Fort Snelling (6th-grade) and Taking a Stand in History (8th-grade) independently created exhibits, models, websites, performances, papers and drawings related to our class themes. Our 6th-grade students focused on Fort Snelling a historical place of importance in our Minnesota History class which we will be visiting on May 18th. Our 8th-grade students focused on the Minnesota Historical Society's History Day theme for 2016-17 which was Taking A history in which they selected a person or group who took a stand for change, justice, and improvements in our world throughout history. This amazing work shows the true depth, work ethic, and determination of our students to apply the skills they have and will learn towards a higher level of academic thinking and creation. Thank you all for your help in coordinating the time outside of our academic day to support your students in this adventure.
